Book Group

Our Book Club is a warm, welcoming gathering that meets on the first Monday of each month. Over tea and biscuits, we come together in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere to explore books and ideas that often carry a spiritual thread.

Our reading choices are varied, embracing fiction, memoirs, poetry, and more. Recent selections have included The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese, with its moving exploration of family, faith, healing, and the enduring presence of grace amid hardship; I, Julian by Claire Gilbert, a fictional autobiography that brings to life the medieval mystic Julian of Norwich and her revelations of divine love in a time of plague and uncertainty; and moments of gentle inspiration, such as sharing favourite quotes from The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy.

Some months, we step away from books altogether to discuss a piece of art such as Michelangelo's breathtaking ceiling in the Sistine Chapel. In January, we each chose a favourite piece of music, favourite film, and favourite book to talk about with each other.

Everyone is welcome, whether you're a keen reader, an occasional browser, or simply someone seeking thoughtful company. No prior knowledge is needed other than and a willingness to share or simply listen over a cup of tea.

If you're interested in joining us, please get in touch as we'd love to hear from you!
